Rock climbing Anchors
Overview:
Anchors are the foundation for rock climbing whether it be top roping, sport climbing, lead climbing or rappelling. Spend a day with the professional guides at Further Your Adventure as you learn the complex world of anchor systems. You will gain hands on experience building a variety of anchors after our instructors have demonstrated the basic techniques. Each anchor will be evaluated and discussed to promote strong and efficient anchor building skills.
Description of skills covered:
• Build and identify strong, equalized and redundant anchors with minimal
extension
• Discuss and learn basic knots used in anchor system
• Understanding the importance of equalization and direction of pull
• Explore system forces and the load limits of equipment
• Explore a variety of anchors, both natural and fixed
• Learn how to place removable gear/ protection
• Introducing and understanding common gear used in anchor building
• Introduction to placement and use of traditional climbing protection
Duration:
This is a full day program expect approximately an 8 hour day plus driving in and out of various locations can add more time to the program. (Programs can be customized for your particular time frame and desires)
Prerequisites:
• Previous climbing and belay experience is required.
• Good physical condition able to engage in moderate activities outdoors for
hours.
