Intro to Sport Climbing
Overview:
Feeling comfortable climbing at the gym or outdoors? Then the Intro to sport climbing course will give you the skills to take your climbing to the next level. Let the professional guides at Further Your Adventure introduce you to the world of sport climbing and open up endless new opportunities. This is a great introduction to lead climbing and a perfect primer for multipitch and trad climbing. This course will help you become a confident sport lead climber and open up climbing destinations everywhere.
Description of skills covered:
• Hazard recognition and management
• Route selecting and assessment
• Gear selection and how it applies to the route
• Discussion of different types of top anchor systems/ gear
• Bolt inspection and assessment
• Leading technique and practice
• Lead falling and practice
• Cleaning gear when following
• Creating an anchor for top rope
• Proper top anchor technique and rappel set up
• Safe rappelling technique with a back up
Duration:
This is a full day program expect approximately an 8 hour day plus driving in and out of various locations can add more time to the program. (Programs can be customized for your particular time frame and desires)
Prerequisites:
• Previous climbing experience gym or outdoor is required.
• Good physical condition able to engage in moderate activities outdoors for
hours.
