Gym to crag program
Overview:
Similar to our Intro to Rock Climbing course but tailored to the gym climber ready to get outdoors but not sure where to begin. Let the professional guides at Further Your Adventure show you the way! This course will introduce you to the joys of rock climbing on real rock in a beautiful outdoor location in Southern California. We will give you important foundational skills to begin your outdoor rock climbing adventures.
Description of skills covered:
• Climbing movement, including some or all of the following dependent upon
location - crack, face, slab and lie back technique
• Crag safety and risk management
• Basic principals of climbing technical systems
• Belaying a climber in a top rope system
• Rappelling, utilizing a back up
• Proper belayer/ climber commands
• Climbing etiquette in the outdoor environment
• Leave no trace – stewardship practices in the outdoor environment
Duration:
This is a full day program expect approximately an 8 hour day plus driving in and out of various locations can add more time to the program. (Programs can be customized for your particular time frame and desires)
Prerequisites:
• This course is designed for the
indoor climber wanting to move to the outdoor arena.
• Good physical condition able to engage in moderate activities outdoors for
hours.
